Fast fashion is a term which describes our modern consumer culture around quickly-made, cheap clothing items. Instead of the stylistic trends changing every season, styles now change week-by-week or even day-by-day. This amounts to an enormous surplus of clothing in the average home. Furthermore, only a small amount of these clothes are recyclable or reusable. The rest are sent overseas where they contribute to environmental degradation. Clothing companies say they will dispose of your old clothes properly, but this is simply greenwashing-- public relations tactics designed to produce a false sense of environmental responsibility on the part of companies.
